What "small group" actually means, and why we cap it

"Small group" gets used loosely enough that it can mean anywhere from 8 to 40 people, depending who’s selling the trip. We cap ours at 12.

Why 12

Twelve people fit in one van without a second vehicle, can sit together at most restaurant tables without splitting up, and can actually hear a guide without a headset system. Past that, a trip starts running like two separate groups that happen to share a bus.

What it changes day to day

• Guides can answer individual questions instead of just delivering a script.
• Meal stops don’t need a reservation for 30.
• You’ll likely know everyone’s name by day two.

It also means our trips sell out earlier than bigger tours — if you’re set on a specific departure date, checking availability early is worth it.
